Germany’s Kommando Spezialkräfte (KSK) and Kommando Spezialkräfte Marine (KSM) just adopted the Walther PDP P14 and P14K as their new standard-issue sidearms, replacing the Glock 17 and H&K P30. At EnforceTac 2025, I sat down with Walther CEO Bernhard Knöbel to get the inside story on why Germany’s most elite units chose the PDP P14 for their next-generation combat pistol.
The PDP P14 and P14K are specialized versions of Walther’s Performance Duty Pistol (PDP), featuring enhanced durability, improved ergonomics, and next-level red dot readiness. These pistols come with Walther’s Dynamic Performance Trigger, deep optics cuts, an aggressive SuperTerrain Slide, and an ergonomic grip that outperforms legacy designs in high-stress environments. With a seven-year contract covering 3,200 full-size and 3,300 compact models, this move sets a new standard for German special forces sidearms.
