The New Q Southpaw
The mad scientists at Q have announced their first dedicated 5.56x45mm suppressor, the Q Southpaw. Never distracted from its mission, the Southpaw follows the same key design philosophies of the “Live Free or Die” state company’s product lineup, being compact and lightweight while providing durability, reliability, performance, and simplicity.
The Q Southpaw features a built-in Plan B taper-locking system to keep your suppressor where it should be at all times while providing crucial alignment for accuracy and a tight gas seal. The suppressor has 1” wrench flats on the muzzle end if you need help snugging it down or removing it from the rifle, and also features 3/4 socket wrench compatibility on the built-in flash hider if you need to do the same while Southpaw is tucked into your handguard. That’s thinking ahead. In the box, you’ll also get a 1/2×28 Q muzzle brake for non-tapered barrels that use a shoulder instead.
While Q often utilizes titanium in its components, the Southpaw features a hybrid construction blend of stainless steel and Inconel. You can see exactly how those materials are laid out in photos, with Inconel used for the blast baffle and the endcap. This provides tank-like construction while nonreactive material eliminates sparking and combats flash using an aggressive flash hider built into the endcap. This will be especially useful in low-light applications and when deployed on shorter barrels as unburned powder makes its way into the suppressor and typically likes to put on a light show.
The Q Southpaw is ready to rock on any barrel length without restriction and weighs only 13.2 ounces at 6” long and 1.75” in diameter.
If you’re looking for a compact hard-use suppressor with great sound and flash reduction on any length barrel, head over to SilencerShop.com because the Southpaw is Silencer Shop exclusive. MSRP on the Q Southpaw is $1,149.
