[SHOT 2025] H&R Lever Guns, DOE Subgun

PSA subcompany Harrington & Richardson (aka H&R) had some disparate but very interesting new guns on display at SHOT Show 2025. They range from 9mm subguns to classic cowboy lever actions. Let’s break down this batch of releases.

Lever Guns

H&R has three general models of lever guns in this initial batch. There is a traditional wood model, a tactical model with stainless steel and polymer furniture, and a case-hardened model. Versions with and without threaded barrels will be available. While only .357 Magnum models are on display it is safe to assume that more options will be forthcoming. Another cool feature H&R has planned is setting up certain models for tang-mounted peep sights. Also, these guns will feature sling loops built into the stocks. These are pre-production models and the final versions are expected to have some different hardware.

DOE Clone

This is not a SHOT Show announcement, but this is one of the first opportunities to see the new Department of Energy 9mm pistols. These guns draw inspiration from the 9mm Colt submachine guns used to protect nuclear power plants and materials in the 1980s and 1990s. It has a 7.5-inch barrel and a folding front sight for concealability. The DOE also feeds from the traditional Colt-pattern straight mag, which is derived from the Uzi magazine.

T-48 FAL

This gun already has a full article, but it deserves another mention here. This is a faithful recreation of the FAL that competed with the M-14 for US military adoption. It looks great and will be a welcome option for collectors of retro guns, or just people who want a nice FAL in their safe with a rear sight graduated in yards instead of meters.
