[SHOT 2025] Colt’s New Optics-Ready Competition 1911 Pistols
At SHOT Show 2025, Colt introduced a new optics-ready 1911 pistol expanding their Competition series of pistols. The new pistol is available chambered in 9x19mm or .45 ACP and features Colt National Match match-grade barrels and Updated Series 70 Firing System match triggers. The frames and slides of the new optics-ready Colt 1911 pistol are made of stainless steel. This is a full/Government size 1911 with 5” barrels. The optics cut cover plate is made of black nitrided steel and has a dovetail cut into it for installing Glock pattern rear iron sights. In order to install red dot sights, one must use a plate of proper footprint. The front sight is a Novak red fiber optic sight. The three-hole trigger is made of anodized aluminum.
The checkered and scalloped black/blue grips are made of G10. The magazine capacities of 9mm and .45 ACP versions are 9 and 8 rounds respectively. These new Colt pistols also feature an extended thumb safety, undercut trigger guard, upswept beavertail grip safety and Colt’s Dual Spring Recoil System. The unloaded weight of this pistol is 36 oz and it has the following dimensions: length – 8.5”, width – 1.25”, height 5.75”.
Both chambering options of Colt’s new optics-ready competition 1911 have an MSRP of $1,399.
