[SHOT 2025] AAC’s New Ranger 5 Reduced Back Pressure Silencer

[SHOT 2025] AAC’s New Ranger 5 Reduced Back Pressure Silencer

Advanced Armament Company (AAC) is part of the PSA family of companies, and they had a new silencer on display in the back of PSA’s booth. The new suppressor is the Ranger 5 Reduced Back Pressure (RBP). It is made with 3D printing out of advanced materials and is designed to push gasses away from the shooter.

SHOT 2025 @ TFB:

The Ranger 5 has been on shelves for a while, but the new RBP model has some very significant changes. While the Ranger 5 has a traditional “stack of baffles” design made of Inconel and stainless steel, the Ranger 5 RBP is made with additive manufacturing. The suppressor body is made of Haynes 282, 3D printed into a one-piece suppressor body. Haynes 282 is an advanced material with extreme heat tolerance. The Ranger 5 RBP retails for $899 and does not include a mount, but it has standard HUB threading for use with most mount options.

AAC also had a cool display showing the design evolution of the Ranger 5 RBP. Eight prototype silencers were all shown together, illustrating the path from idea to executed product. AAC also had a cutaway suppressor showing the silencer split down the middle. In addition to the central baffle stack, there are pathways for gasses along the outside of the silencer to vent the gasses forward.

 From the manufacturer:

The Ranger 5 RBP (Reduced Back-Pressure) is AAC first step into the gas mitigation market. With the new Double-Helix Gas System designed in house for gas mitigation, we are able to reduce the majority of the gas coming back into the Shooter’s face while not sacrificing sound and still providing AAC durability!
