Rossi Expands R95 Options For 45-70: New Laminate, Triple Black Models
Oliver Winchester is long dead and so is John Wayne, but lever guns are the hottest they’ve been in years. For proof, check out Rossi’s newest imports to the U.S. The R95 lineup is growing again, with new Triple Black and Laminate options in .45-70 chambering.

R95 History
Rossi’s R95 lever-action series originally came chambered in .30-30, with a big-bore .45-70 introduced at SHOT Show in 2024. It’s very similar to the classic Marlin 336 design, with a few small parts changed (don’t expect pieces to switch out between the rifles, especially now that Ruger has rebuilt the Marlin production line). You get a tube magazine (five-round capacity for the .45-70 model), iron sights and easy optics mounting thanks to a side-eject design, allowing you to slap a scope or a red dot on top of the receiver.
New Stock Options
When we say “stock options,” we’re not talking about a sweetheart corporate deal—we’re talking about new choices for furniture on the .45-70 model. There’s a new Triple Black model, just like we saw with the .30-30 version (see review here), and a new Laminate model.
Both rifles come with a Picatinny rail mounted on the receiver, with a peep sight integrated. The front sight is drift-adjustable. Both rifles come with a soft touch recoil pad and a paracord-wrapped large lever, making it easier to operate the rifle.
The Triple Black model comes with a black Cerakote finish on the metal, and a black finish on the wood stock, intended to resist foul weather. It comes with a 16.5-inch barrel and is 35.5 inches long overall, weighing 107.2 ounces unloaded. MSRP is $1363.99; see more details here.
The Laminate model has an 18-inch barrel, which makes for a 37.5-inch overall length, and a weight of 109.20 ounces when unloaded. Like the Triple Black and postal workers around the world, this is made to resist rain, sleet and snow. The metal has a stainless finish that will fight corrosion. MSRP is $1287.99; see more details here.
