Rosco Launches A New Limited Edition 11.5” 5.56 NATO Husky Barrel
Rosco Manufacturing is adding to its limited edition series of Husky heavy barrels for the AR-15 platform. The lineup previously included 10.3”, 12.5”, and 14.5” models, however, at the moment only the 14.5” and new 11.5” variants are in stock and available for purchase. Will there be more? You’ll have to ask Rosco, but “limited” could indicate a firm “you snooze, you lose” policy from the Rhode Island barrel manufacturer. Let’s take a closer look at the Limited 11.5” 5.56 NATO Husky Barrel.
Billed as an HBAR/Heavy Barrel option, the 11.5” Husky series is phosphate-coated with a chrome-lined chamber and bore, creating a harder, more slick, and corrosion-resistant surface, increasing lifespan and ease of maintenance. While Rosco Manufacturing is known for hard-use rifle barrels with notable accuracy, the heavy profile of the Husky series is ideal for precision shooting. Mike D’Angelo Jr., President of Rosco Manufacturing states, “While this barrel is only a few ounces more than our Bloodline 11.5″ barrel, the rugged ‘Husky’ profile helps defeat the heat and reduce barrel whip, making for an accurate and enjoyable shooting experience.”
Additionally, the 11.5” Husky barrel is designed with a carbine-length gas system and weighs in at 25.9 ounces. Like all Rosco barrels, it is completed in-house using American steel and is expertly button-rifled, contributing to its high-level accuracy. D’Angelo Jr. explains, “As our limited series continues, we wanted to give you our take on a ‘SOCOM’ 11.5.”

“As our limited series continues, we wanted to give you our take on a ‘SOCOM’ 11.5. While this barrel isn’t exactly heavy in weight, only a few ounces more than our Bloodline 11.5″ barrel, the ‘Husky’ profile helps defeat the heat and reduce barrel whip. This barrel is phosphate coated with a chrome lined chamber and bore. Button rifled for that Rosco accuracy!”
11.5” has become one of the more popular AR-15 pistol and SBR barrel lengths in recent years, boasting enhanced maneuverability while sacrificing less of the much-needed 5.56 velocity than the shorter 10.3” variant. The extra length also contributes to a smoother shooting experience, less wear and tear on internal parts, and increased reliability with less gas back to the shooter due to increased dwell time, proving once again that size does matter.
