Primary Arms Unveils The Made In America PLX HTX-1
Primary Arms has announced the PLX HTX-1, an enclosed-emitter reflex sight that seeks to set a new standard for American-made optics. Yes, this is the first completely American-made Primary Arms optic produced in the company’s home base of Houston, Texas. While setting new standards is a tall order, Primary Arms has given me reason to believe for years, and the HTX-1 is looking really good on paper, with features I find particularly desirable.
The Primary Arms PLX HTX-1 features a patented modular chassis mounting system and includes plates compatible with Glock MOS, RMR-A, and RMR-B footprints. One of the huge upsides I see is that the HTX-1 offers such a low centerline that it will co-witness with standard-height iron sights, eliminating fitment issues with holsters that don’t accommodate suppressor-height sights.
The PLX HTX-1 is also designed for reliability in the most extreme conditions. The enclosed emitter is nestled into a hard coat anodized, 7075 Aluminum waterproof and shockproof housing that Primary Arms promises has been tested against intense exposure and abuse. Meanwhile, the optic features an anti-reflective coating and provides a crystal-clear sight picture for the shooter.
The HTX-1 also features Primary Arms’ patented ACSS Vulcan Dot reticle. Think of this like training wheels, making the implementation of a slide-mounted optic much easier for those who have yet to make the transition. The Vulcan offers a large outer ring that the shooter can switch on and off, leaving a 4 MOA dot reticle. When activated, it will only be visible if the optic is not indexed to your line of sight, indicating which direction you are off and allowing for quick correction without needing to hunt for your red dot.
The Primary Arms HTX-1 has eleven illumination settings, including three night vision settings powered by a side-loaded CR 2032 battery. AutoLive technology extends maximum battery runtime by shutting down the reticle when motion is not detected. Simple +/- push buttons facilitate all functions from illumination control to on/off settings and reticle mode selection. Reticle adjustments are in 1-MOA increments with 120 total MOA of elevation and windage.
MSRP on the Primary Arms PLX HTX-1 is $749.99. An option without the Vulcan option will be available as well, with only the 4-MOA dot. MSRP on that model is $699.99.
What do you guys think of the new American-made Primary Arms PLX HTX-1? I love not having to use suppressor sights for co-witnessing and have increasingly become a fan of closed-emitter setups. I’m looking forward to trying this one out. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
