POTD: Norwegian Special Operations Commandos With Colt Canada C8s
TFB’s Photo Of The Day is happy to be back with more images from the great combat photographer Torbjørn Kjosvold, and his work with the Norwegian Special Operations Commandos – or Forsvarets Spesialkommando (FSK) as they’re called in Norwegian.
Forsvarets Spesialkommando (FSK) is one of Norway’s elite special forces units, established in 1982. Initially part of the Army, they focus on counter-terrorism, hostage rescue, and specialized reconnaissance. Since 2014, FSK operates under the Norwegian Special Operations Command (NORSOCOM), along with the Marinejegerkommandoen (Navy Special Forces) and the 339 Special Operations Aviation Squadron.
FSK has a prominent role in both national defense and international missions, including deployments in Kosovo, Afghanistan, and counter-piracy operations in the Indian Ocean. Its operatives are highly trained in unconventional warfare, providing rapid response to crises. Headquartered at Rena, FSK collaborates closely with both military and civilian authorities for domestic security and anti-terrorism efforts.
The C8 SFW and C8 CQB are in service with Forsvarets Spesialkommando, but sometimes a mechanical master key gets the job done.
This looks like SureFire suppressors.
I don’t know if it means anything, but it’s worth noting that a lot of Special Forces use the Heckler & Koch HK416. In Norway, the regular-issue rifle is the HK416N, and their Special Forces use the Colt Canada C8s. Tell us what your thoughts are on that in the comments below.
