POTD: Finnish Conscripts Train with U.S. Service Weapons

Photo Of The Day – Finnish conscripts were engaged in a unique training exercise, learning to handle U.S. service weapons, specifically the M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle. The training took place in the dense forests of Upinniemi, Finland, as part of a collaborative effort with U.S. Marines. This exercise was a component of the 2024 Reconnaissance/Counter-Reconnaissance deployment in the Baltic Sea region, under Task Force 61/2.

“The training aimed to enhance interoperability and strengthen defense capabilities between the Finnish forces and their U.S. counterparts, fostering closer military cooperation and readiness in the region.”

The Finns also had a go with the M240B machine gun during a live-fire range (not pictured here).
