POF-USA Launches Light Modular Rifle (LMR) BASE Rifle
Want an AR-style rifle with the hitting power of a .308 but you don’t want an AR-10? POF-USA has its new Light Modular Rifle (LMR) BASE Rifle for you, with weight on par with an AR-15.

The basic details
Looking at it quickly, the LMR BASE rifle’s layout screams “AR.” Indeed, it does have a direct gas impingement system, with a low-profile gas block and anti-tilt buffer tube. It also comes standard with POF-USA’s patented E2 Extraction Chamber, to make sure your cases don’t get hung up in the action.

However, POF-USA says it’s not an AR-10 rifle, even if it’s an AR-pattern rifle chambered in .308. As per their PR:
“The LMR BASE rifle incorporates POF-USA’s renowned craftsmanship and is designed as a compact, lightweight alternative to traditional AR-10 platforms chambered in .308 Win. With similar dimensions and weight to an AR-15, this new model is not classified as an AR-10 due to its unique design elements.”
That’s their take on it, anyway. It comes loaded with other POF-USA parts as well: Their patented Keylock bolt carrier group, and their oversized heat-sink barrel nut that helps the rifle shed heat in hot-and-heavy shooting sessions. The barrel itself is 16.5 inches long, made of 416R stainless steel, with a 1-in-8 twist, ending with 5/8×24 threads and an A2 flash hider.
A mil-spec trigger comes standard (which might be good news for some who want robust components, but maybe not others who think little of army standards). An MFT stock comes standard, with an A2 grip. The 15-inch handguard comes with M-LOK slots cut in. The receiver is made of 7075-T6 aluminum with Type III Class 2 hard anodization. With the stock collapsed, the overall length is 34 inches; without an optic or ammo, the rifle weighs 6 pounds.
That’s a very lightweight package, especially compared to most much-bulkier AR-10 models.
“At $1,359, the LMR BASE provides the features and dependability that both new and seasoned enthusiasts are looking for,” said Jeremy Selting, VP of Sales and Marketing at POF-USA. For more deets, check out their website for the new rifle here.
