Norma Announces The Rival Competition Line In 9mm
Norma just announced its new Rival competition line of ammunition available in two variations of 9mm, 147gr FMJ and 158gr TMJ. The subsonic competition loads are meticulously quality-controlled for consistent feeding with greater accuracy and predictability from shot to shot, all wrapped up with an affordable price tag. Norma promises a competitive edge by significantly reducing recoil, achieving a greater ability to stay on target for faster follow-up shots with ease and confidence.
Rival 147gr 9mm FMJ
Norma Rival 147gr FMJ 9mm is designed for competitive shooters and enthusiasts who demand top-tier performance, reliability, control, and consistency from a load engineered to meet minor power factor requirements. The factory’s advertised velocity of Rival 147gr FMJ is 935fps with a muzzle energy of 285ft-lbs. This brass-cased 9mm is heavily scrutinized during production but manufactured from standard components, keeping costs down to a $25.49 MSRP for a box of 50, making Rival 147gr FMJ a capable and affordable performer.
Rival 158gr 9mm TMJ
Rival 158gr TMJ is a flat-nose design delivering stable flight, enhanced accuracy, and consistent performance by optimizing the loads to ensure uniform velocity from round to round. Similar to its 147gr counterpart, the cartridge is designed to reduce recoil to get you back on target quickly. With an advertised velocity of 838fps and muzzle energy of 246ft-lbs, Rival 158gr TMJ is also brass cased and notably affordable at $23.29 MSRP for a box of 50.
Norma’s Rival line of ammunition seems focused on turning out a better production cartridge offered at a reasonable price, qualities welcomed not only by competitors but anyone in the market for quality 9mm designed to outshine the competition. Of course, I would love to get my hands on some as it seems like a great training round as well, depending on the ammunition you carry. Let us know in the comments below what you think of Norma’s new Rival line and if you appreciate the effort to provide a higher quality cartridge without breaking the bank.
