Mossberg Expands Pump-Action Shotgun Lineup with the new Mossberg 590R and 590RM, both featuring a rotary safety selector and AR-style ergonomics, and the 590M Standoff, designed for compact, close-quarters use. These new additions cater to a variety of tactical and defensive applications while building on Mossberg’s reputation for reliability.

Mossberg 590R and 590RM

The 590R and 590RM models introduce an ambidextrous rotary safety selector, a first for Mossberg’s pump-action shotguns. Designed for enhanced ergonomics, the safety is positioned for easy access without breaking grip. Both models share a host of features, including:

Adjustable Stock and MOE+ Pistol Grip: The stock offers five positions of adjustment, a removable recoil pad, and dual QD sling mounts. The MOE+ pistol grip adds AR-style handling to the platform.Heat Shield and Forend Design: An integrated heat shield covers the 18.5-inch barrel, while a user-serviceable forend with a four-piece attachment system provides durability and customization.Optic and Accessory Compatibility: A Picatinny rail on the receiver allows for optic mounting, and M-LOK slots on the forend enable additional accessory placement.Enhanced Features: A flat-profile trigger, elongated bolt release, and electroplated receiver components improve handling and durability.

The 590R is chambered for 3-inch shells and features a tubular magazine with a 6+1 capacity. The 590RM is a magazine-fed version that accommodates Mossberg’s double-stack shotgun magazines, available in 5-, 10-, 15-, and 20-round capacities. Both models come with the option of standard or standoff barrels.

Mossberg 590M Standoff

The 590M Standoff builds on Mossberg’s mag-fed pump-action platform with a compact design suited for breaching and defensive roles.

Key features include:

14.25-Inch Standoff Barrel: The heavy-walled barrel features an integrated standoff muzzle, designed for close-quarters use.Bird’s Head Grip and Forend: Mossberg’s Aftershock grip minimizes recoil and enhances control, while the compact forend includes M-LOK-compatible slots for accessory mounting.Detachable Magazine System: The 590M double-stack magazine system allows users to choose between 5-, 10-, 15-, and 20-round capacities. A 10-round magazine is included.

Weighing just 5 pounds, the 590M Standoff is designed for maneuverability and balance, making it a versatile option for tactical scenarios.

These new models expand Mossberg’s tactical shotgun offerings, with the 590R and 590RM providing ergonomic improvements and higher capacity options, and the 590M Standoff addressing specialized needs for breaching and compact defense. All models maintain the core reliability of Mossberg’s pump-action design, including dual extractors, steel-to-steel lockup, and twin action bars.
