Griffin Armament Announces 1x And 3x T-2 Footprint Prism Sights

Griffin Armament has announced its new GPS1X and GPS3X (Griffin Prism Sight 1x & 3x). As a fan of prisms, it’s great to see Griffin Armament throw their hat in the ring with these lightweight, compact, and versatile optics at a very affordable price point, especially in time for the holidays.

As many of you know, prism optics can relieve the distortion of a traditional red dot if you’re dealing with an astigmatism like I am. Over the years, manufacturers have realized the demand and we’ve seen some great options, shrinking in size, weight, and price from what I tend to think of as OG solutions, like the Elcan and the ACOG.

Features and controls

The Griffin Armament GPS1X and GPS3X use the popular Micro T-2 footprint, offering an abundance of mounting options for most applications. Both 1x and 3x versions feature 1 MOA turret increments with tactile feedback allowing precise windage and elevation adjustment without the guesswork.

Similarly, the 10 brightness settings for use under varied light conditions are designed to provide positive feedback with brightness automatically returning to the last setting when the optic is powered on. This is a great feature on push-button optics that mimics the functionality of having off positions between brightness settings on a dial.

The GPS1X and GPS3X feature auto-off and shake-awake functionality, ensuring quick deployment at a moment’s notice while extending the already stellar 30,000-hour CR2032 battery life. Griffin-branded soft rubber lens caps are included on both 1x and 3x versions. What makes these unique is that they nest into one another and can be stowed on the battery cap when they aren’t protecting the elements.

Griffin Armament promises a crystal clear, parallax-free sight picture to support comfortable eye relief and rapid reticle acquisition from all shooting positions. As with any prism, the reticles are glass-etched, ensuring your optic is usable even if your battery dies.

Reticles

Here we distinguish between the 1x and 3x models aside from magnification. The GPS1X features a clean and simple 100-300m triangular illuminated reticle, with the tip representing your 100m zero. The bottom of the triangle works out to roughly a 300m hold depending on your ammunition and rifle configuration, while the width at the bottom represents approximately 20″ at 300m.

The GPS3X features what Griffin Armament refers to as a simplified Ideal Carbine Optic (ICO) BDC glass-etched reticle for common cartridges. This reticle incorporates ranging data and windage holds at various distances. The good people at Griffin Armament not only posted ballistic charts for various ammunition and rifle configurations on the product page but were kind enough to include subtension dimensional data on the reticle for custom configurations.

Both optics offer the choice of red or green illumination.
