Davidson’s Exclusive Pietta King Trio: Versatile Revolver Option
Are you worried about running out of ammunition for your handgun? These days, it’s not an unreasonable thing to anticipate. Davidson’s has your back, though, with their new King Trio revolver. This comes with not one but two spare cylinders, so you can shoot whatever loose shells you find kicking around in the drawers of your local gun store. Well, not quite, but you do have your choice of four different rounds to shoot.

A practical concern
The reality is that ammo shortages are very much a thing these days. In the wake of the failed assassination attempt on presidential candidate Donald Trump in mid-July, U.S.-based ammo supply websites saw crazy-high traffic.
A combination of survivalists, greedy re-sellers and average Joes who just want to make sure they have enough ammo to keep on shooting is enough to drain the U.S.’s civilian ammo supply much quicker than it can be rebuilt. All of us can remember back to the early days of COVID-19 when gun stores ran out of ammo. Prices have never been the same since, and this wasn’t the first time. It happens every election cycle in the U.S.
A simple solution
With that in mind, Pietta has built this revolver with cylinders in .357 Magnum, .38 Super and 9x19mm. All these cartridges shoot bullets that are the same diameter, and since a single-action revolver doesn’t rely on the cartridge itself to operate the action, well—you can jam any cartridge you want in there, as long as the action can handle the pressure and the round fits down the barrel.
Here’s the Davidsons’ website description of the revolver:
“The King Trio, crafted by F.LLI Pietta, is a finely engineered 1873 revolver offering the versatility of a 9mm/ 357 Mag/ 38 Spl/ 38 Super caliber. Featuring 3 interchangeable cylinders, the King Trio offers unmatched caliber versatility, allowing almost a handful of calibers to be fired from one revolver! This single-action revolver features a robust six-shot cylinder and a 5.5” barrel length. The revolver’s elegant design includes a rich walnut grip, a durable case-hardened frame, and a brass backstrap and trigger guard, blending classic aesthetics with modern functionality.”
The grips are walnut, the revolver has case coloring on the frame and the sights are fixed. The price tag? $800 currently at Davidson’s—more info there.
