Canik, Smith & Wesson Have New Cali-Compliant Pistols

If you’re in California and you’re looking for new firepower that’s compliant with the state’s magazine restriction laws, then heads-up: Canik and Smith & Wesson both have new options for you.

Golden State gun control @ TFB:

Canik Mete MC9

We first told you about this micro-compact when it hit the U.S. market back in February of 2023. This tiny striker-fired polymer-framed semi-auto comes with either 12-round or 15-round magazines as standard in its stock configuration, but those won’t fly in California. So, Canik now has a Cali-legal version of the pistol with 10-round magazines. Of course, it is made in Turkey like the rest of the lineup, and it is chambered in 9x19mm.

“We are excited to bring the Mete MC9 to California, where 2A supporting Americans have been starving for innovative new options in the handgun space,” said Canik USA bigwig Adam Ruonala.

California will get their choice of three colors: black, FDE, or two-tone (black upper, FDE lower). MSRP for this concealed-carry pistol is $469.99, and for that money, you get two 10-round mags, a finger extension magazine baseplate, a magazine loader, a custom holster, a punch and tool kit, a cleaning brush and jag rod, three grip backstraps, a gun lock, a storage case and of course a manual. More details here.

Smith & Wesson M&P 10 2.0

Smith & Wesson’s 10mm semi-auto has been on the market with standard-capacity mags for a while. Now they are offering the M&P 10 M2.0 CORE Performance Center as well as the 4.6-inch model and the 4-inch model with 10-rounders. These are otherwise the same platform that we reviewed back in 2022, with hard-hitting 10mm firepower.

The asking price for the Performance Center version is $749 (see it here). The 4.6-inch barrel version is $679 (see it here). The 4-inch version is $669 (see it here). They all come with two 10-round mags from the factory, a flat-faced trigger, four palmswell grip inserts, and optic-height sights (tritium night sights for the Performance Center model, white dot sights for the other two models). They’re also set up for the C.O.R.E. optic mounting system from the factory. So far, all the 10-round models are only listed in black.
