Army Ups Reward For Stolen Pistols, NVG, To $15,000

Pity the Army’s poor Criminal Investigation Division. Unable to solve The Mystery Of Fort Moore’s Stolen Handguns, they’ve gone to solve the problem in the classic style of all government workers: They’re throwing more money at it—another $10,000 if we can believe the posters floating around social media.

The backstory

This story goes back to the spring of 2024 when 31 pistols went missing from Fort Benning Fort Moore. Investigators weren’t even able to pin down the time of the theft; they only said the SIG Sauer M17 pistols had been stolen from Cresenez Consolidated Equipment Pool between March and May of 2024. That’s a pretty broad timeline considering this is the kind of equipment that POGs should be keeping very close tabs on.

And they certainly couldn’t pin down the crook responsible. The solution at that time was to offer a $5,000 reward—we told you about it here.

Upping the reward

Now, images of a new reward poster are circulating around social media and online military blogs and news sites. According to the poster, which some reporters say was confirmed to be accurate, the reward has been upped to $15,000, and there is a longer list of stolen equipment.

The image above was posted to the @bigdawgdiego account on Instagram. According to the poster, night vision goggles and thermal optics went missing from the same facility, and reports say this happened between August and October this year.

None of this is mentioned in the original reward posting, which has not changed since we shared it earlier this year. Note the fine print in the poster above, which was also on the original poster; if you work for the military or feds already, you may not be eligible for a reward on this one.
