Alchemy Custom Weaponry Fat Man Double Stack .45 ACP 1911
Alchemy Custom Weaponry is a custom handgun maker that a few years ago was acquired by Cabot Guns. While both divisions focus on offering high-quality, very well-detailed firearms, ACW tends to be the more practically minded workshop, with models designed to show off in use, not in a case. The RestoMod product line definitely falls in this category, merging nostalgic style with modern features.

ACW Fat Man Double Stack .45: What is a Restomod?
Restomod is a term coming from the automotive world, where the restoration of an older, iconic, vehicle is coupled with modifications, generally meant to improve performance. While any garage could attempt a restomod, some specialized venues are bringing this practice to pure art, such as Singer Vehicle Design in California, maybe the next step in James’ journey.
Going back to firearms, sticking to the above approach, one could expect a GI-themed double-stack 1911 to be based on something like an old Para-Ordnance 14-45. However, Alchemy Custom Weaponry went in a different direction, manufacturing an entirely new handgun on a 2011-style grip frame.
ACW Fat Man Double Stack .45: Introduction
From the company’s website:
“Throughout the past year, the team at ACW has worked tirelessly to undercover the truth about Nuclear Bombs and the end of World War Two. Are Nukes real? Or was it something even more…powerful that the government didn’t want the public to know about? As the the team pushed further it was unveiled that the classified documents surrounding the bombings were code. Two bombings… two… double…The search continued, but it wasn’t until the team’s trip to Ogden, Utah that it was uncovered John Moses Browning was working on a “super weapon” for the U.S. Government in secret. These hidden drawings provided a shocking answer. An answer in the shape of the .45 ACP. But the two, the code, where did it connect. A deeper look into Browning’s drawings established the connection. Two… double… stacked. Double stack .45 ACP!Alchemy Custom Weaponry is proud to present the recreation of the super weapon that ended World War Two in the Pacific: the REAL “Fat Man” – A double stack, .45 caliber, “atomic” handgun.Styled after Remington Rand’s WW2 production M1911A1, ACW’s Fat Man RestoMod is not a gun for those with a weak constitution. With a loaded weight of one Statue of Liberty and the firepower of the Sun, we legally must warn you to proceed with caution should you choose to carry this warhorse.”
