Hawke Adds Frontier 30 FD L4A and LRX Optics

Hawke has just updated its Frontier 30 lineup with two new variations. According to their PR, the new Hawke 30 FD L4A and LRX optics are both aimed at the target shooting, tactical and hunting markets. Let’s see what they’re about.

The basic construction

Both of these are 1-8x Low Powered Variable Optics (LVPO). As the “30” in the name implies, these riflescopes are built on a 30mm tube, machined from a single piece of aluminum. They’re nitrogen-purged and waterproof, shockproof and fogproof. The basic optic system is Hawke’s fixed-parallax H7 design, with index-matched lenses that have 21 layers of coating. The turrets have ½ MOA adjustments, all done with your fingertips, no tools needed. They come with four inches of eye relief, and a fast-focus eyepiece, with an easily-removed throw lever. Hawke includes a set of flip-up lens covers and a cleaning cloth.

As part of the FD series, both of these scopes have an illuminated reticle with Auto Illumination Mode (A.I.M.). This feature auto-turns-off the red-illuminated reticle if it doesn’t detect movement for two minutes, prolonging your battery life. Hawke’s design also lets you dial in six brightness levels to handle every condition from sunlight to that pitch-black, sitting-in-a-spruce-bog-in-the-rain darkness of last light.

Two new reticles

What sets the new scopes apart from the rest of the Frontier 30 FD series is their reticles. Here’s how Hawke describes the new options:

“The Frontier FD 1-8x24mm L4A and LRX riflescopes feature two reticle options. The L4A FD reticle provides a clean and uninterrupted view of your target with thick side posts. The LRX – Tactical FD (8x) reticle adds distance hash marks for holdover on popular rounds like the 5.56, making longer distance shots easier during fast shooting occasions. It also features two MOA windage markers.”

Asking price for the new optics? MSRP is $999, and they will carry Hawke’s usual lifetime warranty. See more details on the Hawke Optics website.
