BlackArc Munitions Introduces Advanced 5.56 Load With Berger Bullet

BlackArc Munitions has a new ammo option for precision use. The 226 Elite loading marries the NAS3 hybrid case with the Berger 80.5 Fullbore bullet for long range precision. Let’s dig into the specs.

BlackArc calls this the 226 Elite load, which is a reference to the .226 G7 ballistic coefficient of the Berger Fullbore bullet. The Fullbore 80.5 is a well-known projectile among competition shooters, and it is frequently used at 600-yard and longer stages. However, it is typically loaded longer than magazine length and has to be single-loaded in the chamber. I have shot the 80.5 Fullbore in the 600-yard prone stage of CMP service rifle matches, and it is an exceptional bullet.

This is not plinking ammo, and it retails for $75 for a box of 50 rounds. But that added expense provides a listed velocity of 2,830 FPS from an 18-inch barrel. That is enough to remain supersonic to at least 1,000 yards. The 226 Elite load is currently sold out, but keep an eye on the BlackArc website to snag some for yourself.
