POTD: Shooting Rk62, R20 LMTs and B&Ts in Iraq
Photo Of The Day and it looks like we have an interesting day in the Iraqi desert. Soldiers from Finland and Estonia have gathered to try out various firearms, and possibly have some fun at the same time. Below is a stack of B&T GL06 40mm grenade launchers. I once tried one, but only with the 9 mm / 40 mm training version. It was incredibly accurate at 25 meters.
I’d like a shooting range like this as well. I’d behave, I promise. Below is a soldier from Estonia using the B&T grenade launcher.
Below: And finally the R-20 Rahe, produced by LMT Defense, which was chosen as the new service rifle for the Estonian Defence Forces (EDF) after an extensive two-year tender and testing process. LMT Defense’s MARS-H and MARS-L models emerged as the winning options.
LMT Defense developed a specialized variant of the MARS-H in 7.62 caliber, equipped with a piston operating system. This new version belongs to LMT’s 7.62 rifle family and integrates the company’s patented Monolithic Rail Platform (MRP). In Estonia, this marksman rifle variant is officially designated the R-20 L.
The rifles include features like a single-position piston setting, a bayonet lug, and a European-style trigger, allowing the rifle to be placed on “safe” even when the hammer is un-cocked. LMT also enhanced the ergonomic grip to include a shot counter, adding an innovative feature for tracking usage.
