POTD: M16A4 In Rifle and Pistol Competition

Photo Of The Day and here’s another M16A4 in action, in the hands of a U.S. Marine as he shoots a rifle bay for the Parris Island Intramural Rifle and Pistol Competition on Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island S.C. I’m not sure what this shooting position might be called, or if you have ideas on what to name it?

As mentioned in the headline, handgun shooting was part of the competition as well. Shooting steel like this is great fun, just make sure you protect your hearing and eyes.

“The competition allows for Marines from different units to come together compete and qualify with service weapons and earn distinguished marksmanship badges and unit funds.”

If there’s no room around the corner you have to lean or shoot weak hand. I am a leaner, in most cases, but to improve I really suggest you master both ways.

When was the last time you competed using firearms?
