Fancy features
For starters, this rifle is built around Nosler’s Model 21 action, which they introduced in late 2021 (see our initial write-up here). Like the original design, this model is made using wire EDM machining and comes with a spiral-fluted, NIB-X nitride-coated chromoly steel bolt, with an M16-style extractor and tool-free takedown. While this is an expensive rifle, emphasis has been made to keep it user-friendly and durable for use in the field. You don’t want to go on a goat hunt in the British Columbia mountains and end up wishing you’d brought a gunsmith…
The barrel is wrapped in carbon fiber to keep weight down, and the stock is made of the same material for the same reason. The barrel has a 5/8-24 threaded muzzle for a suppressor or other device of your choice. That stock has a flat-bottomed forend that makes it easier to shoot from a rest. Nosler spec’d a TriggerTech Diamond Gold-Edition trigger to help you keep your shots on target with its proprietary Zero Creep Technology and adjustability in the 4-32 ounce range.
Nosler says it will only make 100 of these rifles—whether or not that makes them more desirable is your call. For now, the Model 21 Carbon is only offered in .308 Winchester (with a 16-inch barrel) for an asking price of $3,650, or 28 Nosler (with a 24-inch barrel) if you pay an extra hundred bucks. That’s a lot of cheddar, but Nosler will give you 20 percent off an order of their own branded ammo as part of the deal, and $50 off a Nosler gun case as well.
