Hide Out In The Woodlands With New Hi-Point M81 Finish
Is… Is M81 camo, aka Woodland pattern, getting trendy? Uh, maybe. Decades after the U.S. military phased the classic Cold War camouflage pattern out of front-line use, we see Hi-Point is now offering this finish on multiple models.
Hi-Point firearms @ TFB:
The Hi-Point Yeet Cannon 9mm is FINALLY HERE (Hi-Point YC9) The NEW $215 YC380 from Hi-Point Firearms Gun Review: Hi-Point JHP .45 ACP HI-POINT! 1095TS 10mm Carbine Teaser!
Camo Yeet Cannon?
The M81-pattern firearms started shipping from Hi-Point this summer, and shooters like the new look, says Hi-Point’s leadership. Kara Boesenberg, vice-president of MKS Supply, Hi-Point’s owner, says the new finish “offers a new look to our highly popular models, and really has been well-received by outdoor enthusiasts and the varmint hunters.”
Errrr, perhaps, although most of us aren’t going varmint hunting with a Yeet Cannon or even a 995 carbine.
Speaking of which, here’s the list of what’s currently available in the new M81 pattern:
YC9 (MSRP $278)JHP Gen 2 45 (MSRP $259)995TS Carbine Rifle (MSRP $436)4595TS Carbine Rifle (MSRP $447)1095TS Carbine Rifle (MSRP $517)
Hi-Point didn’t tell us whether or not any of their other firearms would be coming in this finish, but since they’re doing their own hydro-dipping in-house, it should not be a problem if they choose to do so. You can see the new finishes and other stuff that Hi-Point is working on, at their website here.
What else would you want?
If you consider the previous news of a German Flecktarn-pattern furniture kit from B5, then yeah, maybe we are on the cusp of some sort of renaissance of NATO-pattern camo. Is that a good thing? If you think camo is necessary on a hunting firearm, you’re wrong; there’s no need for this look.
But, it sure looks cool, a lot better than the weirdo finishes I saw on display at SHOT Show this year. So here’s a suggestion for the next pattern: Try Brit-style DPM? I’d be happy with either the standard green/brown pattern, or the lighter desert variant.
