GFORCE Arms Chronicle: 1911 Remixed, Again

When is a 1911-pattern pistol not a 1911? According to the naysayers, if it isn’t in .45 ACP (or maybe 38 Super?), it doesn’t count. But if you aren’t torn by such negativity, you might want to take a peek at the new GFORCE Arms Chronicle, an all-forged 1911-pattern pistol that’s just hitting the U.S. market now, chambered in 9x19mm.

John Moses Browning’s Turkish offspring?

As you’d expect, the GFORCE Chronicle is not a made-in-the-USA Colt clone. It’s made in Turkey. The website lists its manufacturer as “GForce Arms, Turkiye.” However, it has some features that U.S. shooters might find pretty desirable, starting with a forged barrel, frame and slide (aluminum frame, 4140 steel barrel and slide). For that classic 1911 feel and look, you get a 5-inch barrel with button rifling and a 1:16 twist. The grips are Turkish walnut. The pistol weighs 2.2 pounds (we assume that’s without a load of ammo).

Speaking of which: because it’s shooting svelte 9x19mm rounds instead of fat forty-five pills, the Chronicle can fit nine rounds in its mag (plus one in the chamber). The pistol ships with two magazines.

Up front, there’s a fiber-optic bead with an adjustable-height Novak-style sight in back. There’s an ambidextrous lever safety along with a grip safety. Of course, it’s a single-action pistol.

Affordable firepower

As you’d expect with most Turkish pistols, the Chronicle comes in at a very affordable price. A $359.99 MSRP makes this an option for a whole new range of buyers, although penurious pistoleers will still find an American-made Hi-Point for less money. But if you want to blast away with the same verve as Bruce Willis in Last Man Standing, but updated for 2024, well—you can see more details here. For that price, you can even afford to buy two of them, just like Bruce had in the movie.
